]]> 379 2016 ARISS Contact https://smara.com/2016/12/19/2016-ariss-contact/ Mon, 19 Dec 2016 04:55:05 +0000 http://smara.com/?p=289 On December 10th, 2016, SMARA hosted an ARISS contact for local high school students part of miSci’s Teen Science Cafe, giving them an opportunity to speak directly to astronauts aboard the International Space Station.  This comes after a year and a half of planning, including work on our satellite station.

Field Day starts at 2 PM EST on Saturday, June 25th at the pavilion at the Niskayuna Soccer Park – public and guests are welcome.  See the map.  (Make sure to enter via Zenner Road.)

Our meeting on December 17th, 2015 will include a presentation by Lenny Signoretti Jr, N2LEN on Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) and Fusion.  This will begin at 7:00 PM (we will begin to gather at 6:30 PM) at MiSci Studio 3.  (See our meetings page for more information.)

This meeting is also a potluck; please bring a dish to share!

]]> 204 SMARA All Clubs Picnic 2015 https://smara.com/2015/08/03/smara-all-clubs-picnic-2015/ Mon, 03 Aug 2015 20:15:11 +0000 http://smara.com/?p=180 SMARA’s All Clubs Picnic is open to members of SMARA and other clubs and organizations in the Capital District, as well as their friends and family.  It will be held at Shaker Rd Fire House #2 Pavilion, at 147 Old Niskayuna Rd, Colonie NY, from 10 AM to 3 PM.  Admission is $5, which can be applied toward a $15 1-year SMARA membership.

Feel free to bring a desert to share, and your club’s banner!  There will be food (hot dogs, burgers, water, and soda), a 50/50 raffle, door prizes, Slip N’ Slide, and more.

Field Day 2015 is coming up!  This year SMARA will be holding a joint event with the Schenectady Amateur Radio Association (SARA) at the Niskayuna Recreation Complex on Aqueduct Road, from this Saturday (June 29th) at 2 PM to 2 PM Sunday.  (See map below.)  This will be a family-friendly event.  Whether you’re a seasoned ham or just curious about the hobby, be sure to stop by!
