    • Looking for volunteers to help out with the Pumpkin Patrol October 30 and 31 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

    For those who do not know what Pumpkin Patrol is: 

    Amateur Radio operators sit on bridges all along the NYS Thruway on the night before and the night of Halloween assisting the NYS Police in an effort to deter mischievous persons from throwing things down into on coming traffic.

    ]]>     645     Maccabi Orientation TOMORROW Aug 1 7:30 PM https://smara.com/2017/08/01/maccabi-orientation-tomorrow-aug-1-730-pm/ Tue, 01 Aug 2017 02:42:22 +0000 http://smara.com/?p=478 A reminder that the orientation session for the Amateur Communications Unit at the Maccabi Games is TOMORROW EVENING. The session will be held at the Albany County Sheriff’s Office at 58 Verda Ave, Clarksville at 7:30 pm.

    Credential and T-shirt pickup will take place at this meeting. Please note, for security reasons, that a valid photo ID must be in your possession at all times during the games along with your games issued credential. The T-shirt issued will also need to be worn while you are on duty.
    If you are unable to attend please let me know ASAP since we will have to arrange for an alternate pickup of these materials.

From August 6–August 11, 2017, the Capital Region will welcome more than 700 visiting teens from across the globe that will compete in Olympic style competition. The games will also include 300 host families, 800 volunteers and 75 local teen athletes competing.
