Kenneth H. Clikeman, AA2CW SK

For those of you who participate in the weekly nets, you may remember AA2CW was always the first to sign in until about a year ago. Also Ken was involved (often coordinating) in many of the public service events our club participated in.

He will be missed.

2016 ARISS Contact

On December 10th, 2016, SMARA hosted an ARISS contact for local high school students part of miSci’s Teen Science Cafe, giving them an opportunity to speak directly to astronauts aboard the International Space Station.  This comes after a year and a half of planning, including work on our satellite station.

See the videos and pictures below.  The contact was also featured on WRGB News, Albany.

Field Day 2016 is coming up this weekend!  We will be holding a joint event with the Schenectady Amateur Radio Association (SARA), much like last year.  This year, the our call sign (W2IR) will be the main call sign, while SARA’s (K2AE) will be used for the GOTA station.

Field Day starts at 2 PM EST on Saturday, June 25th at the pavilion at the Niskayuna Soccer Park – public and guests are welcome.  See the map.  (Make sure to enter via Zenner Road.)
